Biography
Tom focuses his practice on real estate, debtor-creditor, business organizations, probate and estate planning. He is a licensed title insurance agent in North Dakota and is a member of the Real Property, Probate, & Trust Section of the North Dakota State Bar Association. Tom is also uniquely interested in municipal law. He is the City Attorney for Devils Lake, as well as the neighboring communities of Edmore and Churchs Ferry. He previously served as Municipal Judge for Devils Lake.
He graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1980, where he was on the Board of Editors of the North Dakota Law Review. Tom is a third generation lawyer in Devils Lake and is licensed to practice in all of North Dakota's state and federal courts.
Tom has been active in the State Bar Association and currently serves on the Ethics Committee. He is also involved in community activities. Tom has served on the board of directors of Mercy Hospital (including chairman), First National Bank of Devils Lake, Chamber of Commerce, and Community Development Corporation. Tom is a past trustee of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and currently serves on the Diocese of Fargo Due Process Board. He presently belongs to Devils Lake Elks Lodge No.1216 (Past Exalted Ruler), Knights of Columbus (4th Degree), and Rotary Club.
Tom is married and he and his wife, Julie, have three children. He is a persistent fisherman, enjoys downhill skiing, reading, and spending time with his family.
