Biography
Jack is a native of Devils Lake and graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1951. He remains active in all phases of the law with particular interest in trusts, estates and probate. He is a long-time member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Jack is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in North Dakota as well as the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
He served as a Director of a major bank in the Devils Lake community for over 25 years and was actively involved when the bank was sold in 1997. Jack just finished a term as Chairman of a National Foundation with assets of over Three Hundred Fifty Million Dollars.
Jack was National President of the American Elks Association (B.P.O.E.) in 1985-86 and visited forty-eight states, Panama, and Puerto Rico. He continues to be very active in the Elks.
Jack was elected to the North Dakota State Senate in 1990. He is Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and a member of the Senate Natural Resources Committee. He is presently serving on the Interim Judicial Processing Committee. In 1999, the State Bar Association of North Dakota presented Jack with its Legislative Service Award recognizing his dedicated service to the people of North Dakota.
Jack and his wife Jane have five children and six grandchildren.
